Vending machines are everywhere. You can get hot and cold drinks, including beer, at random places on the street. (This one doesn’t have beer, I don’t think.)

A waterwheel in the gutter drives this automaton that presents different dishes each time.
Hida Folk Village
At the Hida Folk Village in Takayama today. 
We’ve also had some weather. Takayama is up in the mountains, and they also get the equivalent of lake-effect snow here… except the “lake” is the Sea of Japan.
