Not only did Vlad Tepes not really have anything to do with Bran Castle, Bram Stoker wasn’t even writing about the real castle.
Apparently Bram Stoker located his castle on what is really an empty mountain top.
The actual Bran Castle commands a major pass between Transylvania and Wallachia, where there has been fortification in one form or another since 1212. In recent history it was the favorite residence of Queen Marie, and property has been restored to the family who now operate it privately as a museum.
