This is the view coming out the metro station at the Colosseum. Really, it’s just sitting there.

Some parts of the Forum are pre-republican, which puts them at least 6th century if not earlier. They definitely look it.

Much newer, but probably more recongnizable is St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. It was the Sunday after Christmas so I didn’t even try to go in. The whole square was packed.
