Internet connectivity is sometimes limited, and I put my laptop in storage in Cuzco to lighten my load.
Much of the time so far has been just trying to get to where we are going: plane from Lima to Cuzco, bus from Cuzco to Ollantaytambo, train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Callientes. We did see several ruins in the Sacred Valley, as well as several markets.

My last stop in Switzerland is Winterthur.
The Natural Museum had an exhibit fitted out like the hold of a clipper bringing back exotic samples form around the world… it even rocked and creaked.
I finally broke out of the city of Zürich. Actually both Rapperswil and Baden are outside of the Canton of Zürich as well.
Rapperswil is at the south end of the lake, at the narrow separation between Zürichsee and Obersee.
Rapperswil is known as the “City of Roses” (just like Portland!) though the rose gardens aren’t much to look at in this season. There’s one specifically design for the blind, with signs posted in Braille.
There’s a Capuchin Monastery and of course a big castle on a hill. Continue reading
