We’re closed

There are no accommodations available is Suchutito. The itinerary changes to Ataco instead. (There’s a slight advantage here since Ataco is on the way between San Salvador and Copan while going to Suchutito would involve backtracking, since the shortest way seems to be through Guatemala.)

We were supposed to stop at Joya de Cerén along the way (the “Pompeii of the Americas”) but it is now only open on Tuesdays. We’re going to see if we can pay for some transportation to go back to it tomorrow, since Tuesday is a free day in the schedule.

The flight arrived early. That is a problem.

Supposedly this tour included an airport transfer on arrival. However, my 12:30 arrival got in at 12:10. Do I wait for my transfer based on original transfer time or actual transfer time? Didn’t matter, the transfer didn’t arrive anyway, so I had to get my own taxi. A bit of trouble there too, since there are two hotels with the same name.

Git while the gittin’s good

Due to schedule concerns for my project at work that they were not allowing any two week vacations, only one week or less. Well, if you are patient sometimes these things work themselves our… so in the interim the project was cancelled. My manager said “I guess you can have your two week vacation back” so I booked it before anyone could change their minds. 😉

So, off to Central America.
